Your previous exam scores may qualify you for automatic placement in college-level Math or English courses. Determine if you meet any of the exemption by reading the information on this page.

English Placement Guide

Beginning Fall 2023, students who meet the following in the last 3 years have demonstrated college readiness and can be placed into the corresponding course.

To place into ENG 101

SAT

SAT score of 450 or higher in Evidence Based Reading/Writing

ACT

ACT score of 18 or higher in English AND 22 or higher in Reading

NJ STARS

NJ STARS* Eligible Students

HiSET

HiSET Score of 15 in Reading AND 15 in Writing AND Essay score of 4

TASC

TASC score of 580 in Reading AND 560 in Writing AND Essay score of 6

GED

GED score of 165-174 in Reading Language Arts

NJSLA

NJSLA English Language Arts 11 (ELA 11) with a 4 or higher

AP Test

Complete AP English Language OR AP English Literature with a 3 or higher

High School Transcript English III or IV

A or B in English III or IV OR
C
in English III or IV with an OVERALL 3.0 GPA or higher (unweighted)
High School Transcript must specify English III/English IV or equivalent.

To place into ENG 101 with ENG 055

High School Transcript English III or IV

C in English III or IV with an OVERALL 2.5 GPA or higher (unweighted)
High School Transcript must specify English III/English IV or equivalent.

*NJ STARS – The New Jersey Council of County Colleges has determined that students who are in the top 15.0% of their high school class are ready for college-level coursework. – New Jersey Statute 18A:71B-85.1. NJ STAR students who may not meet the above multiple measures will be placed in ENG 101 and MTH 100-111 with the ability to take Advanced Algebra and Functions Accuplacer Test.
If official documentation is received in the Testing Center after a student has begun first term, Camden County College reserves the right to review some, or all, exemptions.

 

Math Placement Guide

GED score of 165-174 in Math

NJSLA

NJSLA Algebra II with a 4 or higher in Math

AP Test

Complete AP Calculus AB OR AP Calculus BC, OR AP Statistics with a 3 or higher

High School Transcript Algebra II

A or B in Algebra II OR C in Algebra II with an OVERALL 3.0 GPA or higher (unweighted)

To place into MTH 123

High School Transcript Trigonometry

A or B in Trigonometry OR C in Trigonometry with an OVERALL 3.0 GPA or higher (unweighted)

To place into MTH 122 or 124

High School Transcript Calculus

A or B in Calculus OR C in Calculus with an OVERALL 3.0 GPA or higher (unweighted)
